Our Wedding

We met in late 2021 while we were both living in the D.C. area. At the time, Vicki was working in a post baccalaureate position at the National Institutes of Health, and Mitchell was beginning his first year at Data Trust in Washington, DC. In 2022, Vicki began her doctoral studies in Experimental Pathology at the University of Virginia, and we officially became “long distance”, which mostly means Mitchell has become very familiar with the Amtrak route between D.C. and Charlottesville. Now, four years later , and with one of us having Gold Tier Amtrak Guest Rewards status to show for it, we’re finally ready to leave the distance behind and begin the next chapter of our lives together, side by side, forever.

Our Story

Kelsey and Vicki have been best friends and part of an inseparable friend group since Mrs. Wall’s biology class their freshman year at Wyoming Area. Their friendship weathered college and graduate/PA school, and every time Vicki visits home, Kelsey is there ready to catch up. Kelsey lives in Exeter, Pennsylvania with her husband, Zach, their two cats, Robert and Lua, and their soon-to-arrive baby boy, Lagrue.

Ryan and Vicki have been partners in crime since seventh grade at Wyoming Area. Ryan is part of the core high school friend group that still chats daily and always plans hangouts when everyone is back in the Wyoming Valley. They were in nearly every club together and were teammates on both the swim and soccer teams. These two were inseparable and the ultimate summer yard-volleyball partners. Their friendship weathered college, medical school/residency, and graduate school, and Ryan is always there to support Vicki no matter the distance.

Ryan Murphy

Lauren is Vicki's roomate in Charlottesville and mother to Henry the cat. They have been instant friends since Lauren joned the BIMS PhD program in 2024. Whether it's preparing for big presentations or venting about failed experiments, or was a late night at the Whiskey Jar, these two are getting each other through the grind of graduate school. Over the past two years these two cat moms have built a sisterly bond that Vicki always wanted.

Michael has been partners in crime with Vicki and Ryan since seventh grade at Wyoming Area and remains part of their inseparable core friend group. Whether planning Key Club events, at soccer and swim practice, or preparing for Science Olympiad, Michael and Vicki were always joking around. Their friendship has weathered college and graduate school, and they continue to cheer each other on through every milestone.

Michael Murphy 

Claire and Vicki first met during their first lab rotation at UVA in 2022 and quickly became close while exploring Charlottesville with their cohort. They ended up in the same core course and joined the tight-knit graduate student group nicknamed the Cancer Adjacent Gang. Whether it’s a night out at Bebedero or the Whiskey Jar, late-night Jackbox games, or Sundays at Polo, whenever these two get together it’s always a good time.

Claire Williams

Krystina and Vicki have been friends since elementary school. They played on the same soccer team and competed together on Science Olympiad, later becoming sorority sisters at Pitt. Though life led them to different cities for graduate school, they always reconnect as if no time has passed.

Mitch (DeJonghe) and Mitch (Hards) (yes, it gets confusing, sometimes we even mix them up) have been partners in crime since their days at Davison High School. They've weathered college, cross-country moves, and everything in between, and their bond has only grown stronger along the way. Despite the fact that they are both now going to be married, we are not sure they will grow up when around each other. 

Mitchell DeJonghe

Preston is Mitchell's big brother and has been his biggest supporter since day one. From mud ball fights in the backyard to cheering Mitchell on from the hockey stands, Preston has always been by his side. Over the years, they've been teammates, college roommates, fraternity brothers, and so much more. Although SSgt. Hards is now stationed in Missouri, distance hasn't changed a thing—these two remain as close as ever, staying in constant contact no matter where life takes them.

Mike and Mitchell hit it off the very first time Vicki brought Mitchell home to Wilkes-Barre. Five years later, after countless family vacations, ball games, concerts, and plenty of laughs, their friendship has only grown stronger. As Mitchell and Vicki begin this next chapter together, both are excited to officially gain a new brother.


Michael Remley 

Hannah and Mitchell met in 2020 while working on campaigns in Michigan and have been close friends ever since. Whether it was late-night "Call a Cab"  from Wet Willie's in Savannah, letting Mitchell live off her couch or helping him get his career in Washington, D.C. off the ground, Hannah has always been there to support him. Over the years, she's become kinda like the older sister he never had, but always desperately needed.

Tyson "The Situation" Shepard and Mitchell first met while working together on a campaign in Michigan in 2020. In the middle of a global pandemic, the two quickly became friends while sharing the kitchen at Lansing's finest dining establishment—Franklin's. Whether it's surviving three sleepless days on the campaign trail or staying out far too late in Savannah, whenever these two are together, you can count on a good time!

Tyson Shepard

Aaron and Mitchell first met in their teenage years, and they're both lucky to have made it out of that phase. Whether it was launching homemade potato guns across a subdivision, finding ways to screw around  in chemistry class, or ending up twerking as Powder Puff cheerleaders , these two always seemed to be getting into some kind of trouble . While life eventually took them in different directions, some friendships never skip a beat. No matter how much time passes, these two always pick up right where they left off.
